A Honeymoon in Niagara Falls
I am always telling Craig that he needs to take me on a honeymoon since when we got married, we weren't able to go on a honeymoon. (Not that he hasn't taken me on thousands wonderful trips since we've been married.) Niagara Falls has a reputa
tion of being a honeymoon spot, and so we are here on our honeymoon and having a great time. The falls really are spectacular and even though we have seen them before, we had to see them again. We watched the Horseshoe Falls on the Canada side and honestly when I get close to them watching the water rush over the falls with suc
h power and so much water, it is almost scary. Then we drove once again over the border, back to the U.S. side, to see th
e Bridal Veil Falls and American Falls up close. We didn't get to the falls until late in the day, but we have no regrets as we had spent most of the day in Palmyra. We first visited and hiked the Hill Cumorah and we were the only ones on
the hill at the time so it was a special experience. Then we went to the Smith family farm where we
toured a replica of the log cabin where the Angel Moroni appeared to Joseph Smith in his bedroom.
The Smith family build a bigger home on the property and
we were able to tour it as well. We found the sister missionaries giving the tour very informative. We walked from the Smith home down the trail to the sacred grove and even though the tree
s were still bare, it was beaut
iful and serene. We both felt that it was a spiritual experience to walk through this very special place. Near near
the Smith farm, we visited the Palmyra T
emple and then headed for downtown Palmyra where we toured of the Grandin Print Shop. This is the plac
e where the first Book of Mormons were printed.
