Missionaries at Last

We were set apart as full time missionaries Thursday evening at Eric and Jill's home by their stake president, Pres. Jon Parker. A fun dinner with the Clovis families Friday night and then we were off to Utah early Saturday morning. A dinner and visit with Bruce and kids Saturday evening and then we headed for Kaysville to spend a couple of nights with Dan and Tiffany and the kids. The car is loaded, we've said our goodbyes, and we have made our final preparations. We are both so excited as tomorrow morning we head to the MTC in Provo!!!!

What a Summer!

We wound up our summer with a trip to attend Kelly Butler's wedding to Erik Woolman in San Clemente, California. It was great to see old friends and neighbors. We stayed in Oceanside and enjoyed the harbor and the beach there.

Since David and Grace were not able to make it to Bear Lake this summer, we made a trip to New York to spend some time with them. We stayed right in Time Square at the Marriott Marquis Hotel and felt really spoiled. We had an amazing time--spent Grace's birthday with her, attended a Clay Aiken concert, had lots of wonderful dinners out, experienced Coney Island and had a hot dog, of course, walked to Central Park, and just spent lots of fun times with Grace and David.

The very best part of our summer was probably when the whole family (minus Alex, David, and Grace) were at the cabin together for a weekend. Our family is the best!!!! I love them all so much and it was wonderful having them all in one place at the same time.

David Poulsen was baptized in Bear Lake by his dad, Eric and joins that select group of Poulsen grandchildren which includes Christian, Michael, and Miranda, who have all been baptized in Bear Lake.

We always enjoy having friends and family come to the lake and Linda de Azevedo is one of those special friends who we love to have visit. She always shares her knowledge of the various antiques we have in the cabin. We loved having Sam and Lindsey Smith and their darling new little boy, Misha stop by for a visit as well as Bob and Faye Michelony and some of their family.

It was fun spending a day at the lake with Mike and Pam Underwood and Brooke and her very busy little guy, Blake. After all these years, it was great to finally have them see where we disappear to every summer.

We had a great time with Chris and Julie Jacobsen at the lake for the weekend.

Tracy Durante, Craig, Karen, and Liz Callahan

The summer of fun and travel is winding down, but what a wonderful summer it has been---full of lots of family time and visits with dear friends. The summer began with a reunion of BYU roommates, Tracy and Liz along with Tracy's sister Carla. It was a short but ever so sweet, full of lots of talk and sharing and just catching up. Shortly after their visit, we packed up our house, which was a HUGE job and drove to Clovis to hear Alex speak before leaving for his mission to Brazil. Then we were off to Bear Lake where we spent most of the rest of the summer. Sunny days, special visits from friends, lots of family time with our children Bruce, Eric, Heidi, Tiffany, and Heather and their wonderful spouses and our adorable grandchildren, trips for milkshakes and fries and fry sauce at Le Beau's, golfing, especially wonderful with Heather, swimming, boat rides, and lots of fabulous food served in grand style on the famous cabin porch, movies in Montpelier, trips to Logan, walks up Fish Haven Canyon, smores around the fire pit, etc., etc. What a summer!!!!!!

We're Off to See the World

Criag and I left our beloved home in Half Moon Bay this morning knowing we won't be returning there for almost two years. It was overcast and a bit drippy so it made it less sad to drive away. As Craig and I walked through the house for one last time, it no longer felt like our home since all of our furniture, pictures, dishes, etc. had been put into storage, the house lacked that warm feeling that has always made it our home.

We are off now to Bear Lake for the summer, with a side trip to New York and San Diego and then we will be reporting to Missionary Training Center in Provo on September 6th in preparation for our mission to the Lansing Michigan Mission working as CES specialists. Criag is in the truck towing the boat and I am driving my car so we have stopped in Elko for the night for some rest. We are finally on our way----off to see the world.
