Back in the U.S.
We were excited to be able to read the road signs again as we entered New York state. As we crossed the border from Montreal, we couldn't help but notice how thoroughly they questioned everyone in front of us---car doors opened as they examined the car floor, trunks opened, stuff gone through, hoods opened, etc. Craig said he was glad they were so thorough, but honestly I was glad that they only ask us a couple of questions and we were on our way. (Guess we just didn't have the look, or maybe they just figured no one in their right mind would drive from California to smuggle something across the border here.) We were excited to see green h
ills and evergreen covered mountains as we drove south through the Adirondack Mountains. However, the highlight of our day was visiting with Don and Barbara
Eckenfelder at their home in Glens Fall, NY
. It was also a real treat to finally see beautiful Lake George that Jill has told us about for so long.
