Bulverde Ward in Canyon Lakes

We are actually staying in New Braunsfel, settled by German immigrants. It is about 30 miles from downtown San Antonio and our condo is very close to the Guadalupe River and the little historic town of Gruene. Emily (our GPS) really failed us this morning and we had a terrible time finding a ward building. The addresses around here frequently have the number followed by FM, which we found out means farm to market. (From the original roads from the farms to market. ) Emily just couldn't handle these extra initials so we had to find the ward the old fashioned analog way with verbal directions. We did finally make it to the Bulverde Ward in Canyon Lakes. We then headed to San Antonio to the Alamo. The tour there was truly amazing and I really feel so much more educated about the Alamo and gained a greater appreciation for why it was so important in the history of not only Texas, but the history of the United States. There really is a tremendous amount of state pride here in Texas---lots of state flags flying---and the Alamo also helped us better understand that pride. The River Walk is only a few blocks from the Alamo so we headed down there to stroll once again on the walks, take a liesurely boat ride around the river there, and enjoy a fine TexMex dinner at Casa Rio. Are we exhausted yet?????
