Day 3 Vancouver

An early morning walk on the sea wall in Stanley Park started our day. The sea wall was started in 1917 and goes all around the park. The views from the sea wall are fabulous as you can see the sky line of Vancouver with the five sails from the building that was built for a world expo called Canada Place. This building seems to show up in all the pictures of Vancouver. We were able to see sea plane after sea plane land and take off from the Frazier River and watch the commuter ferries. Then it was off to the Vancouver Aquarium. What an amazing aquarium! It is really kid and family friendly and was packed with all ages of school children. (Brought back lots of memories of field trips for me.) The highlight of the aquarium for me was seeing the beluga whales. They really are stark white and quite small for a whale. One was pregnant and the other two were mom and baby. They were in a large pool outside and put on quite a show during their training session. I especially loved how the baby would stay close to its mom and then nurse every now and then. We went back to the Public Market for lunch and then just hung out for awhile and then checked out the shopping in downtown. I love the sights and sounds of a city so we have had a great three days here in Vancouver.
